ATHERTON
Biography
Atherton is an emcee/producer of independent hip-hop music from Ottawa, Ontario.
On a shoe string budget he has toured throughout Canada and the United States, released an album (selling 500+ hand to hand in the first 6 months) owned and operated an independent record label (Vinyl Tap), showcased at Canadian Music Week and North By North East music festivals and shared the stage with hip-hop greats J-live, Brother Ali and Sage Francis and toured extensively with CunninLynguists and Prince Po.
Atherton was voted top Ottawa hip-hop act (Ottawa Xpress) in 2005 and 2006, his debut was given four stars in the Ottawa Citizen and has received generous nods from both NOW and Exclaim! magazine.
You can catch Atherton currently touring on his lonesome or with live rap act 'The Leathers' performing material off his upcoming release - a full length entitled NO THREAT (2010).
Instrumentation
Atherton: Uses a midi keyboard and dusty old vinyl records to create his sound and puts it all together using Acid 5.0, Sound Forge, Reason and Pro Tools.
